Kid Builder's Payday

A young family moved into a house next to a vacant lot. One day, a construction crew arrived to start building a house on the empty lot. Naturally, the activity piqued the curiosity of the family's 4-year-old daughter, who took an interest in the work and spent much of each day watching the workers.

An Unlikely Team

Eventually, the crew—a good-hearted bunch—took a liking to the little girl and adopted her as a sort of project mascot. They chatted with her, let her sit with them during coffee and lunch breaks, and gave her small tasks to make her feel important.

A Special Payday

At the end of the first week, they presented her with a "pay envelope" containing $10. The girl took the money home to her mother, who suggested she open a savings account with it.

A Teller’s Surprise

The bank teller was duly impressed and asked how she had earned her own paycheck at such a young age. The girl proudly replied, "I worked last week with a real construction crew building the new house next door to us."

"My heavens, young lady," said the teller, "will you be working on the same house again this week?"

The girl replied, "I will, if those assholes at Lowe’s ever deliver the fucking drywall!"
