Benefits Bluff Backfires

The young engineer, fresh out of university, went on a job interview.
At the end of the interview, HR asked him, “And what starting salary are you looking for?”

The young guy replied, “Well, about $125,000 a year, depending on the benefits package.”

The interviewer inquired, “Well, what would you say to a package of five weeks’ vacation, fourteen paid holidays, full medical and dental, a company-matching retirement fund up to 50% of salary, and a company car leased every two years—say, a red Corvette?”

The engineer sat up straight and said, “Wow! Are you kidding?”

The interviewer replied, “Yeah, but you started it.”
