Barn Bed Dilemma

A Jewish doctor, an Indian accountant, and a lawyer were driving in the country when their car suddenly broke down.

They saw a nearby farmhouse and knocked on the door, hoping to use the phone. Due to the late hour, a tow truck could not come until morning.

The farmer was generous enough to let them stay the night but cautioned that there were only two beds in the guest house, so one of them would have to use the bed in the barn.

The First to Volunteer

The three men went to bed, with the Jewish doctor volunteering to sleep in the barn.

An hour went by, and there was a rapid knock on the guest house door. It was the Jewish doctor, who said, "There is a pig in the barn. Due to my religious beliefs, I refuse to sleep in there with the pig."

The Second Attempt

The Indian accountant volunteered to take his place, and everyone went back to sleep.

Another hour passed, and again there was a rapid knock on the door. This time it was the Indian accountant, who said, "There is a cow in the barn. Due to my religious beliefs, I refuse to sleep in there with the cow."

The Final Offer

After a brief discussion, the lawyer volunteered to sleep in the barn, and everyone went back to sleep.

Three hours went by, and there was a tremendous amount of knocking at the door of the guest house.

The two men rushed out of bed and quickly ran to open the door—and to their surprise, it was the cow and the pig.
